KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee shortstop Dean Curley was named a second-team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball.com, the organization announced Friday.
Curley is the seventh Tennessee player to earn postseason All-American recognition, and the second player to receive Freshman All-American honors following pitcher Dylan Loy, who was named a second-team selection by the NCBWA in June.
The California native started 66 of his 67 games played with the Vols in the 2024 season and posted a .285 batting average along with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs. His best stretch came in the NCAA Tournament, where he hit .318 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 12 NCAA Tournament games. During the College World Series, Curley hit .391 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Tennessee has had a player earn Freshman All-America in each of the last four seasons, and Curley is the eighth Vol to earn Freshman All-American honors since Tony Vitello became head coach.
