MODESTO, Calif. — VFL and Angels' eighth-overall pick Christian Moore had some familiar faces in the crowd for his professional baseball debut on Wednesday night.
Moore made his first appearance for the Single-A Inland Empire 66ers on the road against the Modesto Nuts, and the family of Moore's former teammate and fellow first-round pick Blake Burke was in attendance to watch.
"Congratulations C-Mo on your pro debut," said Scott Burke on social media, Blake Burke's father. "We are proud of you and love watching your thing. VFL."
The Burkes' hometown of Brentwood, California, is just over an hour away from Modesto, according to Google Maps.
Moore recorded hits in his first two professional at-bats. He hit a single, followed by a bases-clearing double to help the 66ers to a 17-9 victory over Modesto.
Inland Empire continues its series against Modesto on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Pacific Time, or 10:05 p.m. Eastern Time.
