KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — DeWayne Brown committed to Tennessee basketball on Saturday as the first commit in the 2025 class.
The four-star forward chose Tennessee over Mississippi State and received offers from Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss, among others.
The 6'9" tall, 250-pound forward is a four-star prospect who plays for the Hoover Bucs in Alabama. Brown is ranked as the No. 143 recruit in the country according to 247Sports Composite.
In his junior season, he was awarded the Class 7A Mr. Basketball, the highest award a high school basketball player can receive in Alabama.
Brown helped lead Hoover to a 30-3 record and a 7A AHSAA state championship this season.
He announced his commitment to the university via Instagram on Saturday.
