KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — After a 10-day break in the schedule, Tennessee women’s basketball cruised past Western Carolina inside Food City Center on Tuesday night.
Ruby Whitehorn, Samara Spencer, Talaysia Cooper, Zee Spearman and Sara Puckett started in the 102-50 win.
Besides Western Carolina opening up scoring, the Lady Vols led the entire game.
Cooper was once again a beast on the offensive end. She had 15 points in the first half, and Tennessee was up 54-28 during the break.
The Lady Vols shot 52.5% from the field in the first half. However, the defense was off to a strong start as well. Tennessee notched five steals and forced 23 turnovers compared to UT’s five.
Tennessee didn’t slow down in the second half. The Lady Vols notched their third 100-point game of the season, with five players scoring in double-figures, including Cooper, who led with 20.
The Lady Vols also stayed dominant on defense, ending with 17 steals and forcing 37 turnovers.
Next, Tennessee plays Florida State on Dec. 4 inside Food City Center. Tip-off starts at 7:15 p.m.
