KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Lady Vols avenged their first-ever loss to MTSU from last season and took care of business against the Blue Raiders on Tuesday night at the Food City Center.
Tennessee fell behind early, but Samara Spencer got cooking with 12 of the Lady Vols’ first 16 points. The Lady Vols took the lead late in the first quarter and controlled the game for an 89-75 victory and a 3-0 start to the season.
Four Lady Vols finished with double-digit scoring totals. Talaysia Cooper led the way with 18 points, along with 10 rebounds for the double-double. Spencer followed behind with 17 points, while Tess Darby posted 14 points and Sara Puckett finished with 13 points.
The Lady Vols continue the season-opening homestand hosting Liberty on Saturday, Nov. 16 at noon
