KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee women's basketball picked up a commitment from Arkansas on Sunday. Transfer guard Samara Spencer will join the Lady Vol family next season. The 2022 Freshman of the Year announced on X, saying. "Never personal just business, that's the way i keep it #committed."

Spencer has one year of eligibility remaining.

The 5'7 junior started in all 33 contests for the Razorbacks while averaging 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game last season. Spencer led the team in assists and free throws during her time at Arkansas. She also registered 26 double-digit games, scoring in double figures in all but one SEC game last season.

In 2022, Spencer won SEC Freshman of the Year, becoming the first hog to do so since 2009. She also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors four times.  That season, she averaged 12.2 points per game on a career-best 42.5% shooting from the field and 34.4% from three-point range.

Spencer joins Alyssa Latham and Lazaria Spearman from the transfer portal, becoming the third Lady Vol to commit under head coach Kim Caldwell. Karoline Striplin is still the only player to enter the portal despite the coaching change.
