KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Friday afternoon, four-star tight end Jonathan Echols flipped his commitment from Tennessee to South Florida. He committed to the Vols back in July of 2022.

Echols was a five-star recruit when he first committed to Tennessee, but he has since dropped to a four-star. Nonetheless, Echols is still ranked the No. 179 overall prospect by 247Sports Composite.

Former Tennessee offensive coordinator and tight-ends coach Alex Golesh was Echols' recruiter when he first committed with the Vols. Since then, Golesh has become South Florida's newest head coach, likely playing a major part in shifting his decision.

Echols was Tennessee's only tight-end commit. The 6'4" tall Georgia native played high school at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

The Vol's recruiting class now totals 19 commits. Tennessee's class ranks 14th nationally according to 247Sports.
