A house divided for one Jefferson County family ahead of Tennessee's game against the Crimson Tide

Jefferson County football head coach, Spencer Riley, used to play for the Vols over 20 years ago, but his daughter is now on the Alabama softball team.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Jefferson County takes on Farragut on Friday night, but the next day, Patriots head coach Spencer Riley will be ready for the Vols to give it their all against Alabama on Saturday.

Riley has specific ties to Tennessee football. He was a former offensive lineman for the Vols and the center on the 1998 national championship team.

"My take is, the Vols are going to win this weekend," Riley said.

However, this past year, his house has become slightly divided. Riley's daughter Catelyn transferred from Ole Miss to play softball at Alabama her senior year.

"For me and her, it's kind of been us picking at each other," he said. "It's very interesting."

Riley said he is excited for his daughter to have a fresh start playing for the Crimson Tide, but his love for Alabama can only go so far.

"When she went on her official visit and I'm sitting there... they have all the Crimson around me," Riley said. "They knew I played there, and I said guys, 'My loyalty will lie with my daughter and the Alabama softball program, but that's as far as it will ever go.'"

Tennessee plays Alabama on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST, while the Patriots take on Farragut at 7 p.m. on Friday.
