KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee center fielder Hunter Ensley announced Tuesday he will return to UT next season.
The Tennessee native played a pivotal part in the Vols winning the National Championship. The player, with the nickname “Big Game Hunter,” had a batting average of .296, 12 home runs and 48 RBIs.
His most memorable play of the season came in the College World Series with a catch against North Carolina where he caught the ball while crashing into the wall for the out.
He also had an athletic slide in Game 3 of the College Works Series Finals at home plate that scored a run against Texas A&M that was critical in securing the program's first national title.
He had other big moments throughout the season like a seven RBI game against Florida in a series-clinching win for the Vols. Ensley also had a four RBI game against Evansville in Game 1 of the Super Regional.

The Huntingdon, TN native will be a redshirt senior next season and will be a key returner for the national champions who will be losing other important players to the draft this weekend.
