CLINTON, Tenn. — Clinton quarterback Josh Keith signed with the University of Tennessee Martin Wednesday afternoon.
For the Keith family, this day was special for many reasons. Keith's older brother, Donovan Keith, played at Lindsey Wilson but he never had a signing day. Keith surprised him the day of and let his brother sign with him.
Keith was emotional during the signing process and said Donovan played a big role in helping him make his decision.
"I took time with my family and we sat down and thought about what's best for me," Keith said. "This was the best school academically and football-wise."
Clinton head coach Darell Keith knew this moment was special for the two brothers, and he knew it was a way for Donovan to have his moment as well.
"I think that was a way to right a wrong," Darell said.
For Keith, his journey at UT Martin will begin soon with early enrollment in less than 20 days. He gave some advice to other high school seniors deciding how to take those next steps.
"Just be a leader, man. Don't follow the crowd, be a hard worker always," Keith said. "Work when nobody else is around. Just be you, and don't try to be anyone else."
