KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Fulton wide receiver Derrick Smith and Gibbs defensive end Seth Seiber have earned Player of the Week honors for Week 8 of the high school football season.

In the 35-7 win over Seymour, Smith tallied 6 catches for 142 yards. He scored three out of the Falcons' five touchdowns, helping extend the team's win streak to four.

"I won't be satisfied. I really be messing up on my own. I know what I be doing when I catch a ball and then go backward — I'm like, 'I should've done that.' Sometimes it don't be all about the stats, I take very good appreciation for my team and being here for me," he said.

On the defensive side, Seiber put on a show against Carter. The sophomore posted 12 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The win 48-24 win over Carter put the Eagles at a perfect 7-0 on the season.

"Coming from teams in the past that weren't really good and to come into this it just feels like surreal, it feels amazing. To be able to walk into school and know we have the best record in school history is amazing," he said.

Fulton will host Carter on Friday, and Gibbs will host Morristown East.
