KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Former Tennessee basketball center Major Wingate has died at the age of 36.
Wingate played for the Vols between 2003-2006 before playing professional overseas.
A team captain in his junior season, he started 29 of Tennessee's 30 games. Wingate averaged 10.6 points per game on 55.6 percent shooting. His 70 career blocked shots are 13th all-time in program history.
Wingate went on to play professionally from 2005-2010.
