East Tennessee State University football coach Randy Sanders made waves on social media Monday for a pretty unique way he said he'd celebrate if ETSU happens to upset the Vols at their home opener at Neyland on Saturday.
Sanders made the remark at a Monday pre-game news conference. When asked how it would feel to beat Tennessee, he said the following:
"I'd have that goalpost thrown over my shoulder coming back up the interstate. I can tell you I wouldn't be riding no bus, I'd be walking probably naked with the thing over my shoulder," he joked.
So there you have it: If the Vols fall at home to the Buccaneers on Sept. 8, and Sanders wasn't being completely facetious, there might be a bizarre distraction waiting for drivers heading east on I-40.
TDOT had a little fun with the statement, as well, with spokesman Mark Nagi saying "myTDOT Help Truck Operators prepare for anything and everything but this would be a first..."
The Vols kick off at Neyland Stadium at 4 p.m. Saturday, and the game will air on the SEC Network.
