KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Legendary Tennessee safety Eric Berry visited Tennessee at practice on Friday ahead of the Vols’ game against Texas A&M on Saturday.

Berry will be honored at halftime of the game. He will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December. Tennessee posted the photos of Berry speaking to the team.

The Vol for Life was a unanimous first-team All-American in back-to-back seasons. He is the only Vol to do that. He also became the first UT player to win the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given to the nation’s best defensive back.

He was SEC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 and SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.

“Whether he was in college or in the NFL he was a dynamic playmaker that changed the way the game is played in the middle of the field.” Vols head coach Josh Heupel said on Thursday. “He played violently, he played downhill, just one of the best to ever play the position.”

Tennessee will honor Berry at the 50-yard line at halftime. Former UT coaches and players will wait for him in the endzone to greet him after he is honored.

Tennessee plays Texas A&M on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
