KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee star running back Dylan Sampson surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in one season during the Vol's homecoming game against Mississippi State. He now has 2,000 rushing yards in his career.
Before kickoff, Sampson totaled 980 rushing yards on the season and was almost sure to get 20 more against the Bulldogs on Saturday night inside Neyland Stadium.
In his sophomore season, Sampson totaled 604 yards, 139 of which came in a game against Texas San Antonio early in the season.
Sampson has up to seven multi-touchdown games this season, many of which have helped Tennessee come out on top in close games.
Just last weekend against Kentucky, Sampson broke the program record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season when he scored two and made his total 19.
Gene McEver held the record with 18 for nearly 100 years before Sampson joined Tennessee's roster.
