KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee beat Missouri 3-2 on Friday night to clinch the series against Missouri inside Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

In game one on Thursday, Tennessee had plenty of power with the bats as the third-ranked Vols won 10-1 thanks to six home runs. On Friday night, impressive defensive plays helped Tennessee take care of the Tigers.

In the top of the second inning, Kavares Tears came up with quite the catch in right field. There was a Tigers runner on first who thought the ball would land and not be caught who was far away from first base. Tears threw the ball to first baseman Blake Burke for a double play.

In the top of the fourth inning, Missouri had the bases loaded with the score tied 0-0. Drew Beam delivered the pitch and catcher Cal Stark rifled the ball to Burke at first base who got the tag for the final out needed to get out of the jam.

In the top of the sixth inning, shortstop Dean Curley climbed the ladder to get an out on a line drive for the last out needed to close out the defensive side of the inning. He has done this before this season and his jumping ability is incredible.

Tennessee goes for the series sweep on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
