KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello gave a passionate rant on Sunday night after the Vols beat Evansville in Game 3 of the NCAA Tournament Super Regional by a final score of 12-1.
On Saturday after the Vols lost to Evansville in Game 2, Vitello was asked by a reporter if the season wouldn't be a success if they didn't make it to the College World Series at the hands of regional four seed Evansville.
Vitello said no matter what the season would be a success after the team accomplished claiming a share of the SEC regular season title and SEC Tournament title.
After the win on Sunday, he readdressed it saying it bothered first baseman Blake Burke.
He went on a nearly six-and-a-half-minute rant about success. Vitello expressed success in coming to work every day excited as soon as he gets out of the car.
"Success for me is what I get to judge, Vitello said. "The one thing I stated after last season because I'm in a bathroom crying with just a lot of emotions after we beat Clemson last year was to show up every day and get out of my car excited."
