No. 21 Tennessee wins against Vanderbilt on Senior Day, 48-24

The Vols finished the regular season with a record of 8-4 and went 4-4 in SEC play.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — No. 21 Tennessee took care of in-state rival Vanderbilt on Senior Day with a win 48-24 inside Neyland Stadium on Saturday.

The Vols wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. On the third play of the game, quarterback Joe Milton found wide receiver Ramel Keyton for a 56-yard touchdown. Tennessee went up 7-0.

Vanderbilt responded with a touchdown of their own on their first offensive possession. Quarterback AJ Swann threw to wide receiver Junior Sherrill for 19 yards and the score.

With the game tied 7-7, Milton found tight end McCallan Castles for a 10-yard touchdown to regain the lead. The score put UT up 14-7 with 3:13 left in the first quarter.

Tennessee went up 21-7 following a 34-yard touchdown pass from Milton to tight end Jacob Warren.

In the second quarter, Vanderbilt scored a field goal. Tennessee got back up 14 points when Charles Campbell made a 24-yard field goal with 6:04 left in the first half.

UT scored another touchdown right before halftime when Milton scrambled into the endzone from two yards out. The Vols led 31-10 at halftime.

Tennessee extended their lead on their first offensive drive of the second half. Milton and Keyton connected on another touchdown pass and catch, this time for 46 yards. Tennessee went up 38-10.

At the end of the third, Joe Milton ran two yards for his second rushing touchdown of the day. The Vols led at the start of the fourth, 45-10. He finished the game with six total touchdowns, becoming the first Tennessee player to do so since 2009. 

Quarterback Nico Iamaleava came in and Tennessee kicked a field goal at the end of the game, finalizing the 48-24 win. 

The Vols finished the regular season with a record of 8-4 and went 4-4 in SEC play. The Vols await for their bowl game to be announced, which will be known on Dec. 3.
