TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee football has dropped an additional three spots in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, leaving the Top 10 on Sunday afternoon. Despite an overtime win against the University of Florida last night with a final game score of 23-17, they have now moved from No. 8 to No. 11.
The Tennessee Vols came from behind to defeat the Florida Gators after a rocky first half. The Vols took the lead for the first time after the Gators gave them an excellent field position in the fourth quarter. Running back Dylan Sampson rushed for a 23-yard touchdown to make it a 17-10 game. This was Sampson's fifth multi-touchdown game.
Ten teams now sit in front of UT in the rankings. Texas, Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami (FL), Alabama, Louisiana State, Iowa State and Clemson in that order, with Texas holding off Oregon to maintain the first-place position.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, Tennessee will battle longtime rival Alabama at home for their seventh game of the season. The game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Neyland Stadium and will be televised by SEC Network.
