TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee football has maintained the No. 7 spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll Sunday afternoon, following a bye week. The latest poll results follow the Vols' win against Alabama last weekend.
Last weekend, the Vols defeated Alabama at home with a final game score of 24-17. The Vols trailed 7-0 at halftime despite multiple miscues, but Tennessee rallied in a leading effort to beat Alabama in back-to-back home games. With less than two minutes left in regulation, Tennessee kicked a field goal, bringing the lead to 24-17 before intercepting the ball from Alabama to secure the win.
This win against Alabama was Tennessee's second in two years. The Vols beat them in 2022 for the first time in 16 years back in 2006, with a final score of 52-49.
Six teams now sit in front of UT in the rankings. Oregon, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State, Miami (Florida) and Texas take the lead in that order, with Oregon holding the number one spot.
Tennessee was on a bye week this week and will return to the field on Nov. 2 to battle Kentucky at home. The Vols' eighth game of the season will take place in Neyland Stadium and will be televised by the SEC Network, with kickoff starting at 7:45 p.m.
