KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee wide receiver Bru McCoy announced on Tuesday, Jan. 2, that he will return to Rocky Top for his final year of eligibility. The redshirt senior missed the season's last seven games due to a fractured dislocation of his right ankle in Tennessee's win over South Carolina.

In the 2023 season, McCoy totaled 17 receptions for 217 yards and one touchdown. In his first season as a Vol, after transferring from USC, he had 52 receptions for 667 yards and four touchdowns.

Before deciding to return to UT, some of McCoy's teammates were urging him to return next season. Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava spoke to the media a few days before the Citrus Bowl and said having a veteran receiver in that room would be huge for the Vols in 2024.

In addition to McCoy, receivers Squirrel White, Chas Nimrod, Kaleb Webb, and Dont'e Thronton Jr. are expected to be back next season. Thornton suffered a season-ending leg injury against Missouri in November. Tennessee also picked up Tulane transfer receiver Chris Brazzell II to create more depth in that room.
