TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee football moved up in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, going from No. 7 to No. 6 on Sunday afternoon. The new ranking comes following the Vols Saturday night win against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Tennessee took on Mississippi State in their homecoming matchup at Neyland Stadium. The Vols wrapped up a four-game home stretch in Knoxville with its fourth-straight conference win and a final game score of 33-14.
The University of Tennessee takes the spot previously held by Penn State in last week's AP Poll., where Tennessee ranked No. 7.
Five teams now sit in front of UT in the rankings. Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Indiana take the top five in that order, with Oregon maintaining the first-place spot and Georgia dropping out of the top 10 after a Saturday loss to Ole Miss.
On Nov. 16, the Vols take on No. 11 Georgia out-of-state for a big conference matchup. The game could potentially determine the fate of each team after the regular season. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Athens, Georgia.
