KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The SEC announced two Tennessee Football players have earned weekly honors. They said junior edge rusher James Pearce Jr. was named Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week, while rookie defensive back Boo Carter earned Co-Freshman of the Week.

Pearce is now a three-time SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week recipient after earning the honor twice last season. This is Carter's first time receiving an SEC honor in his career. Carter was also named by the Reese's Senior Bowl as Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Pearce was dominant in Tennessee's 23-17 overtime win over Florida, registering seven tackles, 0.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Carter produced the best game of his career, finishing with seven tackles, one sack for a loss of 10 yards, 1.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards and one QB hurry in Saturday's victory.

Tennessee has garnered 37 SEC weekly honors since Josh Heupel coached the team.

The Vols take on the Crimson Tide in Neyland Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
