A mayoral smackdown with Moon Pies, Mountain Dew and Mello Yello is brewing ahead of the UTC vs. UT game

It's quite the wager, y'all.

So, the Vols have had a rough start to the season. And the folks at UT Chattanooga seem to think their team, the Mocs, can take them at Neyland Stadium at the game on Sept. 14.

The last time the Mocs beat UT was 1958, for reference, and it caused what some described as a riot.

UT Chattanooga's Student Government Association posted a video to Twitter on Sept. 9 saying they think the team can do it again, featuring Student Body President Stan Settles, UTC Fullback Torrez Finney and UTC Chancellor Steven Angle.

Finney even teased that they'll turn Rocky Top into 'Mocky Top' in the video, "dethroning the Vols."

The three then chanted "That blue, that gold, that white, too hype," over and over again.

Well, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs saw the video... and he wasn't a fan. He tweeted back at Settles, saying at first "Sorry, @stansettlestn ...no #MockyTop, no blue, no white, no hype. All ORANGE, baby! #GoVols #GBO @Vol_Football

And then, Jacobs upped the ante, tweeting that he would present Settles with a case of Mountain Dew in front of the entire UTC student body if the Mocs won. But if the Vols won, Settles would have to bring him a case of Moon Pies, a Chattanooga specialty.

UTC's Football team then tweeted back at the mayor, informing him they were a Coca Cola campus and that it would have to be Mello Yello.

So Jacobs said he'd bring a case of that, too, if he did in fact have to go down there. But he was pretty confident he wouldn't be.

And Jacobs didn't stop there. He went ahead and challenged Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, too, in a video he gave to Chattanooga NBC affiliate WRCB.

Jacobs said for the "Tennessee Tussle" game, he wanted to make the wager with Coppinger as well, asking for a case of Chattanooga's famous Moon Pies signed by Coppinger "when the Vols win," delivered to Jacobs' office.

"If for some out of the realm of possibility chance that the Mocs are able to take the Vols at Neyland Stadium," Jacobs said in the video, "you will be receiving a case of Mountain Dew with my congratulations."

Jacobs is pretty excited for his Moon Pies, too. So, will Coppinger accept? That's the question.
