(WBIR) The University of Southern California fired head football coach Lane Kiffin after Saturday's 62-41 loss at Arizona State.
USC athletic director Pat Haden announced on the school's website early Sunday that Kiffin has been relieved of his duties. Haden said the university told Kiffin he was fired when the team arrived back in Los Angeles.
USC has lost seven of its last 11 games. The Trojans are 0-2 in the PAC-12 and 3-2 overall this season. Kiffin's overall record in four seasons with the Trojans is 28-15. The school has scheduled a news conference for later Sunday. A time and location have not been announced.
Kiffin was head coach at the University of Tennessee in 2009 before jumping to U-S-C after one season.
He drew criticism for brash actions during his tenure at Tennessee, and again last season at USC.
