OMAHA, Nebraska — Tennessee baseball is two wins away from claiming the program's first national title.
On Saturday they start a best-of-three-game series against Texas A&M.
A reporter asked head coach Tony Vitello, Kirby Connell and Kavares Tears a question referring to Tennessee as a baseball school.
When it was Vitello's time to answer, he said Tennessee is an everything school then shifted into taking how Pat Summitt paved the way of culture for winning.
"It's how she went about the business and what type of character she instilled in her players. It's pretty awesome," Vitello said. "That's what her championship was despite all the banners. The byproduct was a whole hell of a lot of wins and she was a winner."
Summitt won eight national championships, reached 18 Finals Fours and claimed 16 SEC regular season titles and 16 SEC Tournament titles.
Vol baseball has won two SEC regular season titles and two SEC Tournament titles under Vitello. This is his first appearance in a College World Series Finals.
Vol baseball will begin their quest in the finals for their first national title on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the Aggies.
