Tony Vitello recognized as America Baseball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year

Under Vitello's coaching this season, Tennessee won its first-ever national title, broke a single-season record with 60 wins and won the SEC championship.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello was named National Coach of the Year by the America Baseball Coaches Association.

Under Vitello's coaching this season, Tennessee won its first-ever national title, broke a single-season record with 60 wins and won the SEC championship.

This is Vitello's first national coach of the year honor from ABCA but it's the fourth time he's been named the nation's top college baseball coach, according to UT Athletics.

Tennessee baseball went 13 years without making the NCAA tournament before hiring Vitello. Since then, he's led the team to five straight NCAA tournaments, three College World Series appearances and has now secured a national title.
