STILLWATER, Okla. — Tennessee women's tennis advanced to the Final Four after the clock turned midnight into Saturday.

The 16th seeded Lady Vols beat 8th seeded UCLA in a thrilling 4-3 battle in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It was the first time since 2002 the Lady Vols have made it this far in the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee lost the doubles point to start things off, needing four singles matches to make it to the national semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

They started singles by losing the first set in four of their six matches.

Tennessee fell behind 3-2 needing both final singles matches to win.

Catherine Aulia got the job done, winning in three sets.

Sofia Cabezas was down match point in the second set but fought it off, took the set to a tiebreak and won that. It forced a third set. She won the third set to give Tennessee the 4-3 win.

According to the ESPN+ broadcast, Tennessee is the first 16 seed to make a Final Four.

The Lady Vols will play 13th seeded Texas A&M for a spot in the national championship on May 18. The program has never reached a national championship.

UT reached the Elite 8 after beating top seeded Oklahoma State on the road. That marked the first time making it that far since 2010.
