KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee women's basketball signed Miami transfer forward Lazaria Spearman on Wednesday.
Spearman will be a junior when she joins the Lady Vols for the 2024-2025 season. She becomes the second Lady Vol to sign under new head coach Kim Caldwell, as Syracuse transfer Alyssa Latham who committed on Sunday put pen to paper to officially join the program.
Spearman played in 30 games and started 10 last season. She averaged 6.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game averaging 18.6 minutes per game. She was 50% from the field last season.
"We welcome Lazaria to the Lady Vol program and are excited about the height and athleticism she brings to our team," Caldwell said in a statement. "It's not easy to find someone with her combination of length and ability to play in transition. She really clicked with our team and is fun to be around. I can't wait to have her on the court with us."
She was a top 30 prospect and six-ranked forward in ESPN's top 100 recruits in 2022.
Her career-high in scoring came in her freshman season when she scored 19 points against DePaul. Her career high in rebounds was 15 against Mississippi State this past season.
The depth is important after forward Tamari Key decided she would not return to Tennessee next season, forgoing her final year of eligibility while forward Karoline Striplin entered the transfer portal.
