Sought-after basketball transfer Anosike coming to Tennessee

E.J. Anosike has played for Sacred Heart in Connecticut. Does his name sound familiar? His sister played for the Lady Vols.

E.J. Anosike has committed to play his last year of college basketball for Rick Barnes and the University of Tennessee.

Anosike is a 6-foot, 6-inch senior who comes to Tennessee from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. He made the announcement Friday.

The Vols had good company in their pursuit of Anosike.

He ultimately chose Tennessee over the likes of Gonzaga, Louisville, Georgia and others.

He was a major factor for the Pioneers this past season, leading the team in points and in rebounds. Anosike averaged 15.7 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game during the 2019-20 season.

If his last name sounds familiar, it should.

His sister, Nicky, played for the Lady Vols and helped to win two national titles under legendary coach Pat Summitt.

Anosike will join the Vols along with a highly-touted freshman signing class that includes five star prospects Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson. The class was rated at a Top Five class in the country by 24/7 sports.

When you add the senior experience of an athlete like E.J. Anosike, the 2020-2021 season looks to be one with quite a bit of promise for the Vols.
