USA TODAY columnist Dan Wolken tweets that Tennessee is finalizing a deal with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano.
Wolken tweeted minutes earlier that Tennessee will name a coach on Sunday and reported that Tennessee's search had turned towards Schiano.
Schiano built up a previously poor Rutgers program while head coach of the Scarlet Knights from 2001-2011. He led Rutgers to an 11-2 record and a final ranking of 12th in the AP Poll in 2006, then left to take the Tampa Bay Bucs head coaching job in 2012. He went 11-21 as the Bucs head coach in two seasons before being fired.
Schiano was an assistant at Penn State from 1990-1995 and a Washington Post report cites testimony from former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary saying that Schiano knew about Jerry Sandusky's improper conduct with young boys.
Schiano has denied those allegations.
