Team 121 hosted South Carolina, looking for a much needed win off a bye week.
The Gamecocks are 4-2 on the season under Coach Will Muschamp. Muschamp is 5-0 coaching against Tennessee in his career; three of those wins have come with Butch Jones at the helm.
Coach Jones said redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano would get his first career start at quarterback.

Tennessee leads South Carolina 9-3 at the half. John Kelly leads the Vols with 53 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards. Jarrett Guarantano has completed five of seven passes for 54 yards and rushed for 16 yards.
UPDATE 12:45:
At the end of the first quarter, the Vols lead South Carolina, 6-0. A 30-yard run by freshman Ty Chandler helped Tennessee move the ball from its own five-yard line into position for a 33-yard Cimaglia field goal.
UPDATE 12:21:
The Vols marched down the field for a 29-yard Brent Cimaglia field goal on their first possession. It's the first time this season that Tennessee has scored on its first offensive drive. The freshman kicker is filling in for senior Aaron Medley who is out due to illness.
