TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 5 Tennessee routed No. 14 Alabama 11-3 in the SEC opener on the road in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday night.
The Vols trailed 2-1 after the first inning. They didn't allow another run until the bottom of the ninth inning and poured in nine runs between the third and sixth innings.
Dylan Dreiling, Blake Burke and Kavares Tears all hit home runs in the game. Tears extended his hit streak to 17 consecutive games. Burke has hit a home run in three straight games. Dreiling has hit home runs in back-to-back games for UT.
AJ Causey pitched 6.2 innings, allowing those two runs in the first, but settled down. He only allowed six hits to Alabama.
With the win, UT has now won 17 games in a row. They play Alabama again to try and win the series on Saturday at 8 p.m.
