What you need to know before the Vols season opener this weekend

The Vols will play Chattanooga State for their first football game of the season on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. in Neyland Stadium.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Football season is back! The Vols will kick off their 2024-2025 football season on Saturday, Aug. 31 with a home game against Chattanooga State Community College. Kickoff will begin at 12:45 p.m. in Neyland Stadium. 

Where do I enter?

Fans can enter the stadium through Gate 24 on the stadium's northwest side beginning at 10:45 a.m. Accessible elevators will be available at Gates 15, 21 and 26. Gates 4, 4-A, 6 and 8 will not be operational this season. 

All tickets and parking passes will be digital and can be accessed through a mobile device. The stadium's clear bag policy will be in effect. 

Where can I watch?

The game will be televised live on the ESPN app, on SEC+ Network. Viewers can also watch the game on ESPN+. 

When is the Vol Walk?

The Vol Walk will start at 10:30 a.m. on Volunteer Drive at Circle Park. The walk will begin by the Torchbearer statue two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, continuing down Peyton Manning Pass before turning left on Philip Fulmer Way and entering the stadium through Gate 21-A. This weekend's walk will also include a pregame flyover. 

Are there watch parties?

Truly's Tailgate will be open to fans at 8:45 a.m. outside Gate 9 and close at the end of the third quarter. 

Toyota's Vol Village in Humanities Plaza will be open to fans from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Village will offer live entertainment, food, games and more.

Where can I park?

Free public parking will be available in downtown Market Square, Langley and State Street garages. Several KAT buses will be able to transport fans through downtown for a fee. 

Gameday parking lots surrounding Neyland Stadium are reserved for season pass holders. All shuttles from parking lots to the stadium will begin three hours before kickoff at 9:45 a.m. 

Accessible parking with shuttle service will also be available for free on UT's agriculture campus on a first-come, first-served basis. A complete list of parking information is available here

What new things can I expect this year? 

This year's football season will feature several new experience enhancements for Vols fans. Attendees can look forward to things like new equipment, a Transcard Premier Club, a brand-new Vintage Volunteer shop at Truly's Tailgate and more. 

Fans can also expect renovations to features from past seasons, such as a fully functional Wi-Fi system, upgraded speakers, concession enhancements and more. As part of the Tennessee Vols' recent partnership with Yee-Haw Brewery, fans can also expect the debut of the new Yee-Haw Ole Smoky Social Desk. 

For the first time this season, every Tennessee football game will feature a radio broadcast in Spanish by flagship station WNML. A live audio stream in both English and Spanish will be available at UTSports.com and on the Tennessee Athletics app.
