KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Last February, Tennessee Vols guard Zakai Zeigler tore his ACL in a game against Arkansas and has been out of action ever since.
That could change tonight.
An Instagram post by Vol Hoops states that the 5'9'' junior from Long Island could be making his long-awaited return in the Vols season opener against Tennessee Tech tonight.
At the time of his season-ending injury, he led the SEC in assists with 161 in total and averaging 5.4 per game. He also averaged 10.7 points per game.
Zeigler has faced adversity before when his family home in New York burned down in February of 2021.
The Vol nation came together to help raise more than $350,000 to help out Zakai's family.
Despite his injury in his sophomore year, he was named to the Coaches and Associated Press All-SEC Second Team. He also made the conference's All-Defensive team.
