TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee point guard Zakai Zeigler has been named to the preseason First-Team All-SEC for the third straight season.
The reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year comes off an All-SEC junior year as a top player for UT, averaging 12 points and six assists per game. Senior forward Jonas Aidoo was also selected for the Second-Team All-SEC Team and both will kick off their senior competition seasons later this month.
Tennessee ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 Poll. Eleven teams currently sit in front of UT in the rankings. Kansas, Alabama, UConn, Houston, Iowa State, Gonzaga, Duke, Baylor, North Carolina, Arizona and Auburn take the top eleven spots in that order.
Tennessee will play a charity exhibition game against Indiana at home on Oct. 27 in the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center at 3:00 p.m. The first game of the season will occur at home just over a week later on Nov. 4 against Gardner-Webb at 7:00 p.m.
