TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee men's basketball has ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll on Monday.
This ranking is four positions lower than the team's No. 9 ranking in last year's preseason poll. The Vols finished their 2023-24 season 27-9 overall and 14-4 in conference play. UT made its second consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearance last season after a 62-58 victory against Texas. They then advanced to the Elite Eight after an 82-75 win against Creighton, for the second time in the program's history.
Eleven teams currently sit in front of UT in the rankings. Kansas, Alabama, UConn, Houston, Iowa State, Gonzaga, Duke, Baylor, North Carolina, Arizona and Auburn take the top eleven spots in that order.
Tennessee will play a charity exhibition game against Indiana at home in the Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center at 3:00 p.m. The first game of the season will occur at home just over a week later on Nov. 4 against Gardner-Webb at 7:00 p.m.
