CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Former Tennessee softball pitcher Ashley Rogers will play as a professional with the Chattanooga Steam, the team announced on Wednesday.
She will be playing just about an hour away from her hometown in Athens.
Rogers played four seasons at Tennessee and was dominant. She had a career earned run average of 1.94 and 812 strikeouts in 131 appearances. In her final season, she allowed just an ERA of 1.19.
She was selected to the All-SEC first team in 2023. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association named her Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-American.
"So excited for the opportunity to be back home playing the game I love," Rogers wrote on the social media platform X.
The former ace and Lady Vol for Life gave an emotional speech on representing Tennessee after her final game in the Orange and White.
