KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — It was a moment Dylan Dreiling's parents will never forget.
Doug and Lindsey Dreiling a walk-off hit from their son to give the Vols a 12-11 win against Florida State in UT's opening game of the College World Series.
The family was ecstatic that their son came up in the clutch to deliver one of the program's all-time biggest postseason moments.
"You want your kid to get up there in that spot because you want him to win the game," Doug, Dylan's dad, said. "At the same time when it happens, man, it's all kinds of emotions that's for sure."
The Dreilings said it felt like a long time for their son's hit to fall down in the gap to secure the win. They just wanted the ball to hit the field. When it did it was pure jubilation.
"Oh my goodness, there was pandemonium on the field and we were trying to take it all in," Lindsey, Dylan's mom, said. "We are jumping and cheering in the stands with our friends and family and trying to watch where Dylan is going on the field. They [Tennessee] ended up in the outfield. Oh my gosh, it was just so much fun."
Both of his parents said Dreiling grew up in so many clutch time moments throughout Little League and high school. His dad always told Dylan to slow down the game so it doesn't come at him so fast.
They both waited on him after the game when Dreiling was done with all his interviews and they said he was full of smiles. They said all he cares about is winning and he wants to go all the way with the Vols.
Tennessee plays North Carolina next in the College World Series. That game is on Sunday at 7 p.m.
