KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (School release)-- Nick Senzel was named a Freshman All-Amercian by Louisville Slugger as selected by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team last week.
The Farragut product was honored as a designated hitter freshman All-American after hitting .315 with 15 extra-bases hits and tying for the team lead in RBIs with 39.
As UT's cleanup hitter for much of the season, Senzel also stole 14 bases and walked 30 times. He posted a team-best .419 on-base percentage.
Senzel is the first Tennessee player to earn Freshman All-American honors since 2008 when both Kentrail Davis and Bryan Morgado collected honors from various outlets.
