KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Friday, Tennessee infielder Christian Moore was recognized as the Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Month by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Moore led the Vols in several offensive categories in April — the junior notched 10 home runs, 27 RBIs, 20 runs and 28 hits. Moore also led Tennessee in total bases (63) and slugging percentage (1.016), with the most impressive batting average of .452.
Moore led in hits in the SEC while ranking second in RBIs and slugging percentage. Following an impressive road series against Kentucky, Moore was tabbed National Player of the Week honors from D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game and also picked up an SEC Player of the Week award after the series win.
In the Game 3 rubber match against the Wildcats, Moore smashed three long balls, placing him first on Tennessee's career home runs list.
Moore is the first UT player to be named the NCBWA Player of the Month since Drew Beam was awarded Pitcher of the Month in 2022.
