Two semi-trucks, one carrying AMR ambulances, wreck on I-40 in Roane County

A multi-vehicle wreck closed off Eastbound I-40 in Roane and Cumberland counties.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol and emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle wreck on eastbound I-40 in Roane and Cumberland counties.

A wreck involving two semi-trucks shut down the interstate for hours at Rockwood Mountain and mile marker 341.

One semi-truck carrying two American Medical Response ambulances wrecked with another semi-truck, scattering boxes and debris after separating the trailer from one of the trucks.

Mike Cohen with Cohen Communications Group said the AMR ambulances were just passing through and were not bound for East Tennessee or anywhere in the state.

It's unknown if there were any injuries.

Authorities eventually were able to push the trucks to the side of the road to reopen the right lane of I-40 around 6:30 a.m. EST as they continued to clear the scene.
