KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Last week, a story about a Texas-shaped pool made national headlines for being an impressive display of state pride.
Here in East Tennessee, we had many saying they knew of people who had designed pools to show off their Volunteer spirit.
One of those is Tony Campbell. He is well-versed with pool design, as he's the president and CEO of Campbell's Pool & Spa here in East Tennessee.
Campbell wanted to add a reflection pool to his home, which ended up being in the shape of a giant 'T' for Tennessee.
It's not quite a Power T, but Campbell said the pool wasn't originally planned to be T-shaped in the first place until his son suggested adding a diving board.
"I re-did my design. It came out with a T-shape and made it symmetrical where it was a true T. Well, not really a Power T, but a T-shaped. Of course, we're big Tennessee fans, too, so it worked out well," he said.
The pool holds about 48,000 gallons of water and has two bodies -- a 4-foot deep shallow end, and an 8-foot deep diving end.
Campbell said he can confirm his T-shaped pool isn't unique. His company has helped design quite a few Power T shaped pools for Vol fans.
