The kudzu doesn't stand a chance.
A new clean-up crew is helping rid some of Knoxville's parks of the invasive vine--- and they work for food!
Every year, the city brings in a herd of goats to munch their way through the lush groves of kudzu that could take over if left unchecked.
On Tuesday, they were working in Fort Dickerson Park.
"Kudzu grows with sunlight. The leaves need sunlight to grow and the rootball continues to grow bigger but if the goats eat the leaves then the kudzu doesn't grow so you can bring them back year after year and then eventually the goal is to shrink that rootball where kudzu won't grow," said Chad Weth, City of Knoxville Public Services.
This is the third year the goats have visited Fort Dickerson. After they finish there, they'll move on to some property along Williams Creek.
