10News has received a number of questions about Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
We reached out to the Tennessee Department of Human Services to find out what you should do if you missed the Jan. 14 deadline.
SNAP recipients who missed the deadline to submit renewal forms or their six-month simplified report are still encouraged to submit those documents as soon as possible, according to a statement from DHS.
You may upload your needed documents online at https://apps.tn.gov/dhsaccess/ or by visiting your local DHS office during regular business hours.
DHS said information received after Jan. 14 may not receive the early issuance of February benefits.
DHS said it will continue to process SNAP renewals, simplified reporting forms and new applications as they are received, but it cannot guarantee enough funding will be available for every applicant.
A limited amount of funds may be available for February benefits from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) after Jan. 20, according to the statement.
SNAP benefits will be issued to eligible individuals as funds are available, according to DHS.
DHS said the impact of the partial government shutdown on SNAP benefits after February, if it lasts that long, is unclear.
