A 38-year-old Sevierville woman has been indicted in the murder of a 75-year-old man that happened in early December.
According to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, Krista Faye Owens reportedly ran from a home on Bob Hollow Road on Dec. 10 after Billy Joe Huskey, 75, was shot. He later died at the hospital.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said that after the shooting, officers determined that there was another female in the home when the shooting occurred but had fled and went to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
"A female, who had fled the residence on foot before police arrived, was taken into custody a short time later in a wooded area near the scene," Seals said in a release.
Owens was arrested on an outstanding warrant and has been held in the Sevier County Jail on those charges since that time.
Detectives from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office investigated the shooting and on Wednesday, the case was presented before the Grand Jury and sealed presentment was issued for Owens for first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and attempted first-degree murder in connection with Huskey's death, according to Sheriff Seals.
Owens was set an additional $750,000 bond on the charges and will be arraigned in a Sevier County Circuit Court at a later date.
