Autopsy results released for Mizzou student, Riley Strain, who went missing in Nashville in early March

According to the report, Strain had a blood alcohol content of .228, nearly three times the legal limit to drive.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A medical examiner has released the autopsy report for Missouri student Riley Strain, who went missing and was later found dead after being kicked out of a Nashville bar on March 8.

According to a report from WSMV4 Nashville, the report concluded Strain died as a result of drowning and intoxication. His manner of death was deemed an accident.

The report said Strain had a blood alcohol content of .228, nearly three times the legal limit to drive.

Strain's body was found in the Cumberland River on March 22 approximately eight miles from downtown Nashville near 61st Avenue. According to Metro Nashville Police, workers who were on the river discovered his body. Police said he was wearing the same clothes he was last seen in.

He was found after two weeks of extensive search by air, boat, and on foot that included the Metro Nashville Police Department, Nashville Fire Department, Nashville’s Office of Emergency Management, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, United Cajun Navy and countless volunteers.

The Mizzou student was in Nashville for a fraternity trip and disappeared after getting kicked out of Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge Bar. Strain's friends said they lost sight of him that night after he left the bar. His disappearance caught the attention of national and social media, which led to unfounded speculation about the circumstances of his disappearance and death.

From the beginning, authorities emphasized there was no evidence to support claims of foul play.

Videos released by businesses and police show Strain stumbling and falling around Nashville after being kicked out of the bar. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission has launched an investigation into whether Strain was overserved alcohol on the night of his disappearance.

Luke’s 32Bridge claims Strain was served just one alcoholic beverage and two glasses of water while he was at the bar, according to a report from WSMV4.

The TABC has worked with local law enforcement to determine where else he was served alcohol that night.

Their investigation into whether he was overserved remains ongoing.
