KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Election Day has arrived for the primary races deciding who will face off to represent Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.
The Associated Press said Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. AP also said Gloria Johnson secured the Democratic pick and will face off against Blackburn in November. She faced Marquita Bradshaw, Lola Denise Brown and Civil Miller-Watkins in the race.
Meanwhile, Republican Representative Tim Burchett is running unopposed to represent the state in the House.
In November 2022, around 1.7 million votes were cast in midterm elections. That number represented around 38.61% voter turnout in Tennessee, and around half were from either early voting ballots or absentee ballots.
