KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In a series of interviews, WBIR is highlighting the upcoming legislative session for the 113th Tennessee General Assembly.
Both chambers are set to gavel in on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Republicans hold a “walk-out majority" in both the House and Senate, meaning every Democrat lawmaker could fail to show up or walk out and the Legislature could still pass bills with the necessary votes.
At WBIR's request, state lawmakers representing East Tennessee are offering their personal priorities, the priorities of their colleagues and their quick take on “school vouchers.”
That one issue is a key priority this session for Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.
We plan to post these one-on-one conversations ahead, during, and after the 2024 session. This story will be updated with those conversations as they are available.
