UPDATE 11 AM WEDNESDAY: The Tennessee Highway Patrol has yet to make a positive identification of the pedestrian killed late Monday in a vehicle crash on Chapman Highway, the THP said Wednesday.
Lt. Don Boshears said until the identification is made, no further information about the incident will be released.
Only then will a report be released, Boshears said.
No details about the possible vehicle involved have been released.
The Sevier County Sheriff's Office said the crash appeared to be a hit and run.
PREVIOUS STORY: A pedestrian was struck and killed in a fatal crash late Monday on Chapman Highway in the Seymour area, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The victim was killed near Burnett Station Road, according to THP Lt. Don Boshears.
"We received the call around 11:42 p.m.," Boshears said in an email.
According to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, the crash was a hit and run.
"The pedestrian hasn't been identified and the investigation is still ongoing," Boshears said.
No details have been released about the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.
